The CPCI-PN-DEV board from esd enables the connection of any Profinet IO controller to a CompactPCI system. The interface board works as a Profinet device within a Profinet network and exchanges process data with the Profibus master, for example a 'Simatic-S7 PLC' from Siemens. On the master side, configuration is possible via standard Profinet configuration tools such as 'Simatic Manager' from Siemens. On the CompactPCI host, the process data or the process images of the device can be read out via an easy-to-use C/C++ library. Software support for QNX and Linux is available, other operating systems are available on request.
