Adept presented the new "Courier" mobile robot as a technology preview in Munich. This is an intelligent driverless transport system with a payload of up to 20 kg. By combining a mobile base with an integrated motion-capable controller and software for automatic map generation and routing, the mobile platform can navigate completely autonomously and safely within a work area that has been taught in advance using a laser scanner. It knows the exact position of each location. One conceivable application from the logistics sector would be, for example, the supply and disposal of materials to and from assembly lines.
