Ferrocontrol presents the FPGA-based drive control system E°Darc C. The drive controllers cover a power range from 2 kW to 16 kW. Their FPGA design allows parallel current, speed and position control. One feature of the devices is the speed-controlled operation of medium-power high-frequency spindles for speeds of up to 24,000 rpm. The system supports safety functions with which applications up to Performance Level e (in accordance with ISO 13849-1) or SIL 3 (EN 2061) can be implemented. Additional standstill monitors, for example, can be used for safe standstill detection. Safe standstill detection (SSW) for spindle drives can be integrated directly into the controller. The 'E°Darc SCM' safety module provides additional safety functions in accordance with IEC 61800. To increase energy efficiency, the drive control system offers, among other things, two buffer modules with a storage capacity of 8 mF or 16 mF. They are operated in the DC link (760 V(DC)) and provide a maximum usable energy of 1.25 kWs.
