... the flow of force can be calculated back from the foot through the knees and hips to the arms and hands. This provides the respective loads and movement sequences for each of these body parts. Fraunhofer IPA was able to demonstrate the advantages of the system at the Volkswagen Group's Chemnitz plant, for example. There, several workers involved in the assembly of the dashboard complained of tendinitis in their wrists. The analysis of the movement sequence showed how the mobility of the joints should be restricted in order to prevent wear and tear. The affected workers were first given a so-called kinesio band, as used by competitive athletes, to stabilize the wrist. The result: the relatively simple orthosis had the desired effect. In future, all workers in this department will wear a special glove with the supporting tape already incorporated.
