The Augsburg-based robot manufacturer Kuka used the "home game" Automatica to present its new KR C4 controller generation, which the company has been working on for over three years. The architecture behind it is representative of a trend that is emerging in control technology in general: Consistent use of the possibilities of multi-core processors, purely Ethernet-based communication and implementation of safety-related functions entirely in software.
