Balluff
Industrial cameras in the short-wave infrared range
Balluff is expanding its 'BVS CA' industrial camera product family with new models featuring SWIR sensors. This means that short-wave infrared technology (SWIR) is now available for use in the short-wave infrared range in the GigE and USB3 camera series.
With new camera models from the BVS CA-GX0 and BVS CA-SF2 series, Balluff is expanding the application possibilities to frequency ranges beyond visible light from 380 to 780 nm. The SWIR sensors use the short-wave infrared range of the light spectrum up to 1700 nm and thus detect object features and characteristics that are difficult or impossible for conventional cameras or the human eye to see. Sony SWIR image sensors (IMX990, IMX991, IMX992 and IMX993) ensure image quality, high sensitivity and an image resolution of up to 5.3 megapixels. The robust cameras also have their own image memory. Image pre-processing and corrections are already possible in the camera thanks to the FPGA. Balluff's industrial cameras with SWIR sensors are primarily used in the semiconductor, packaging and food industries. Compatibility with GigE Vision, USB3 Vision and GenICam ensures that the SWIR models can be easily integrated into existing systems. From the integration to the handling of the cameras, nothing changes compared to previous models.
