ipf electronic has extended the camera sensor series 'OC53' (optical check) with the devices OC539820 and OC539821, which enable color evaluation.
According to the manufacturer, the camera sensors with C-mount lens mount are particularly suitable for applications that require a variable working distance or different dimensions and illumination of the field of view, as they enable the selection of a lens tailored to the application and the control of external lighting via the integrated flash controller. The new variants can also be used for color evaluation, color determination and color arrangements. Potential areas of application can be found in the electrical industry, for example, in the assembly of ribbon connectors. Here, for example, the color recognition of the camera sensors could be used to check whether the wires marked in different colors are correctly connected to the contacts provided for this purpose. The camera sensors in the aluminum housing are designed in protection class IP67 (with lens protection housing), can be used in a temperature range between +5 and +50 °C and are vibration-resistant in accordance with IEC 60068-2-6 and IEC 60068-2-64 as well as shock-resistant in accordance with IE 60068-2-27.
