Digital twins and AI in industrial use
Schaeffler and Nvidia launch technology partnership
Schaeffler is cooperating with Nvidia to optimize production processes in the global plant network with the help of digital twins and AI-based simulations. The Omniverse platform plays a central role in this.
Schaeffler has agreed a technology cooperation with Nvidia to drive forward the digitalization of its production worldwide. The aim is to use the Nvidia Omniverse platform to map and simulate all production areas as digital twins and to use this as a basis for making them more efficient.
By 2030, at least half of the more than 100 Schaeffler plants worldwide are to be integrated into the Omniverse. AI-supported solutions will be used to simulate the physical properties of materials, processes and production sequences in real time. Virtual mapping allows assembly processes or the use of humanoid robots, for example, to be tested and further developed before they are implemented in the real environment.
"Schaeffler is consistently and resolutely driving forward the digitalization of its plants," says Andreas Schick, Chief Production, Supply Chain Management and Purchasing Officer at Schaeffler. "In order to shape the production of the future, we need strong partners like Nvidia. Together, we will create a digital ecosystem for our more than 100 plants that will revolutionize production processes in the long term."
With this cooperation, Schaeffler is contributing its many years of manufacturing expertise to the further development of the Industrial Metaverse. The standardization of processes should further accelerate global production and increase the speed of innovation.
