Congress WomenPower
Premiere for Young Engineering Award
With the Young Engineering Award, Deutsche Messe is honoring for the first time an expert from the STEM field who is no more than 30 years old and is doing or has already done something exceptional in the technical field.
An independent jury, consisting of members of the WomenPower congress advisory board, selected Lisa Ihde from three finalists to receive this new award in recognition of her great commitment to the STEM sector. The initiative is intended to motivate women to take up more careers in the STEM sector.
The winner was announced at the opening of the WomenPower career congress on April 21 in Hanover. Lisa Ihde from the Hasso Plattner Institute Potsdam is a book author and software engineer. She co-authored the book 'Game Design for Dummies Junior'. The games industry - like the IT industry in general - is heavily male-dominated. This makes it all the more important for women to become more involved in order to change the image of women in digital games. With her commitment, Lisa Ihde is a role model for all young women who decide to pursue a career in IT or game design and need strong role models for these career decisions.
The WomenPower career congress is held every year as part of the Hannover Messe and is primarily aimed at participants from the STEM sector. In addition to the programme of lectures, panel discussions and workshops, WomenPower offers companies, associations, networks, organizations and trainers the opportunity to find out about career prospects, studies, coaching and mentoring offers as well as other labour policy topics and trends in the accompanying exhibition. This year, the WomenPower career congress is celebrating its twentieth anniversary.
