What do self-employed design engineers earn and where in Germany are they most in demand? Which design software is most in demand? The personnel service provider Gulp examined these questions in a recent market study.
The study also examined which computer-aided design (CAD) software was most frequently requested in the project tenders. CATIA is in first place with a share of 24%, followed by Autodesk Inventor (21%). Solidworks comes in third with 14%. "The picture here has changed significantly over the last few years," says Stefan Symanek. "While according to a market study from 2010, CATIA experts were still being sought in more than every second project inquiry, this is now only the case in one in four. AutoCAD has since been replaced by its 3D sister program Autodesk Inventor and Solidworks has worked its way up from last place at the time to third place."
