Baumer at the SPS 2023

Inka Krischke,

The sensor workshop

At Baumer this year, trade fair visitors were able to try out smart sensor solutions in an uncomplicated way: A sensor workshop in a special area next to the main stand made this possible. Oliver Schleicher, Managing Director of Baumer Germany, reveals the details.

Mr. Schleicher, what is the idea behind the Sensor Workshop?

In the sensor workshop, we present products that you can touch, try out and experience. We want to show how easy our smart sensors are to use. Visitors can try out the many features and functions of our sensors on their own or with instructions - and take home ideas on how they can make their daily work easier and more effective.

How is the 'workshop' set up?

On 132m2 of additional exhibition space, we show smart sensor solutions you can touch. We have selected three exciting subject areas as examples: Photoelectric sensors and diffuse sensors for the smart factory, smart 2D profile sensors for positioning and inspection tasks and: using the full potential of IO-Link sensors. Up to four workstations are set up on each of these themed tables for trying out and testing, true to the motto test & try.

Which sensors can be tried out?

With the 'OX' series, the new sensor class for positioning and inspection tasks, the 'IO-Link Eco-System' and the smart light barriers and light scanners for the Smart Factory, there are current highlights that can be used in many automation solutions. Whether in assembly and handling technology, intralogistics or quality inspection - there are interesting tips and tricks for better solutions for a wide range of industries.

With the 'Baumer Sensor Suite', we want to show the smartest way to connect IO-Link sensors, even across manufacturers. This will enable trade fair visitors to understand and utilize the full potential of IO-Link devices.
