Protective shield against drones
Espionage, smuggling and vandalism - many companies fear drones. Deutsche Telekom now offers a defense system with the 'Magenta Drone Shield'.
In addition to many useful applications, drone technology also harbors risks of misuse. Drone pilots benefit from the fact that their flying objects are difficult to detect due to their size and volume.

Companies with critical infrastructures, data centers, stadiums and public authorities can now protect their premises against overflights by remote-controlled flying objects. "In recent months, Deutsche Telekom has tested the most important manufacturers of drone detection and defense systems from all over the world and bundled the best technologies under the leadership of lead partner Dedrone for our Magenta drone protection shield," explains Dirk Backofen, future Head of Telekom Security.
The 'drone' tracker equipped with sensors is an elementary part of the telecoms solution.

It is based on intelligent software that can reliably distinguish drones from birds, helicopters and other flying objects. Any number of sensors from a wide range of manufacturers can be integrated into the modular system, which can be integrated into customers' existing security concepts.
In addition to technology from Dedrone, the Telekom solution portfolio also includes frequency scanners from Rhode & Schwarz, microphone arrays from Squarehead, radar devices from Robin Radar Systems and jammer technology from HP Wüst.
Official approvals required
In addition to preserving evidence, customers are offered the option of averting danger through organizational measures as well as fending off drones through electronic jamming measures. However, the use of electronic jamming equipment always requires approval from the relevant authorities.
In addition to project planning, design, installation and commissioning of the system, Telekom also offers other services such as operation and maintenance as managed services. The offering is supplemented by a mobile solution that can be rented as required.
Deutsche Telekom itself will be the first customer for its own solution: several of the Group's own properties will be equipped with components of the 'Magenta Drone Shield' in the coming weeks.
