Industrial Cybersecurity

Alexandra Hose,

Building secure OT and IoT infrastructures

Under the motto "Industrial Cybersecurity - Protecting What Powers Tomorrow", ECOS Technology will be demonstrating at embedded world how the networking of a wide range of devices, systems and installations in IoT and OT environments can be managed securely.

The focus is on the PKI and key management solution ECOS TrustManagementAppliance (TMA). The system is a solution for the centralized and secure management of certificates and keys, tailored for use in production environments. The TMA covers all functions relating to the creation, storage, distribution, renewal and revocation of certificates and keys. This creates the basis for industrial cybersecurity with secure machine identities. The TMA can also be connected to various existing systems, including production systems, IoT management solutions and IAM systems.

Roll out and manage certificates on site

With the TMA Edge Gateway, ECOS Technology also offers a software solution for rolling out and managing certificates that can be used on edge devices. As there is no administration effort and no special IT know-how is required on site, the TMA Edge Gateway is also suitable for use in the environment of production facilities, at contract manufacturers in Germany and abroad or in branch offices, for example. The solution can be operated either as a virtual machine, in a container infrastructure or on its own hardware. Certificates for machine identities can thus be securely applied directly in the production process. The TMA Edge Gateway also ensures 24/7 availability, as even offline times at branch offices or contract manufacturers do not lead to production interruptions.

"We are further expanding the areas of industrial cybersecurity and PKI and key management in the IoT/OT environment and have also strengthened our team in this segment," says Gerald Richter, Managing Partner of ECOS Technology GmbH. "Increasing regulation, for example through requirements such as NIS-2 and the Cyber Resilience Act, presents companies with the challenge of creating a secure basis for the networked future."
