Robotics award enters second round
For the Roibot Award 2022, Igus is once again looking for creative applications worldwide, or more precisely, for existing low-cost automation applications that have led to a rapid return on investment.
Robolink articulated arm robots, drylin Delta robots, Cartesian robots and drylin drive technology from Igus can all be used. An expert jury will evaluate the concepts. A submission that is characterized by creativity and an optimization concept will receive a high rating. The winner will receive a freely configurable robotics package worth 5000 euros, second place can choose automation solutions on RBTX.com for 2500 euros and third place for 1000 euros. The closing date for entries is April 30, 2022. igus will present the award at automatica 2022 in Munich. Applications can be submitted on the website igus.de/roibot-anmeldung.
Last year, over 70 applications from all over the world were received for the 2019/2020 award. The winners from Salzburg (Austria) designed a mobile robot system with a gripper to perform dangerous handling tasks from a distance, for example in the skilled trades sector. A glove equipped with sensors is used for this purpose, enabling intuitive control through gestures and with feedback. The engineers developed a drive system, a battery system and a mechanical frame for the cost-effective and maintenance-free robolink D articulated arm from igus.
Second place went to a pick & place system for the healthcare sector from Apostore. It consists of a robot cell and a supply system for feeding bulk goods. Third place went to the German company Superwurm. The earthworm breeders developed a system that automatically counts worms and packs them in cans.
