German Bionic, provider of electrically powered back exoskeletons for industry, logistics and healthcare, is seeing a sustained strong increase in demand for its intelligent power suits. The 'Apogee' and the 'Apogee+', specially developed for the care sector, are AI-based and fully connected robotic wearables for the working world. The e-exoskeletons reinforce self-learning lifting movements, provide support when walking and prevent incorrect posture. In addition, an integrated ergonomic early warning system provides real-time data from everyday working life to protect employees' health, measurably reduce the risk of accidents and improve work processes at the same time.

The company is intensifying its collaboration with its industrialization partner, the German automotive supplier Mubea, in order to be able to meet the rapidly increasing demand for intelligent occupational safety systems in the future. The scale-up will be accompanied by an expansion of the Series A financing round in the amount of EUR 15 million. In addition to lead investor Mubea, the investors include existing investors such as Benhamou Global Ventures, Bayern Kapital, IT Farm, Kailua Ventures, Cumberland VC and Family Office Klein.

"The deepening of our partnership with German Bionic underlines Mubea's ambition to make a significant contribution to the success of sustainable mobility solutions. This is increasingly the case in the field of micromobility, which operates within the Group under the name Mubea U-Mobility. Our core competence in the field of intelligent lightweight solutions, our extensive experience in the successful start-up and implementation of large-scale production projects and the global presence of the Mubea Group are an excellent strategic fit with the growth targets that we are pursuing together with German Bionic," says Dr. Thomas Muhr, Managing Partner of Mubea.

"Occupational safety is increasingly becoming the focus of the working world. Our ageing societies can no longer afford to have people who are ill or retire early, because sustainability starts with young employees. German Bionic is benefiting from this trend of investing in occupational health and safety today in order to be able to rely on a healthy and motivated workforce tomorrow. We anticipated the rapid market development together with our industrialization partner Mubea, created the corresponding capacities and are delighted to be deepening this extremely successful collaboration, which is now also resulting in an investment," says Armin G. Schmidt, CEO of German Bionic.

German Bionic has been developing and producing intelligent and networked e-exoskeletons for industry and logistics in Germany since 2018. German Bionic's customers include global logistics companies such as DPD, Dachser and Fiege, large retailers such as Canadian Tire and the British CE retailer Currys, as well as major international airports.

In summer 2023, the company presented a new product line specifically for the healthcare sector. The 'Apogee+' actively relieves nursing staff in hospitals and care facilities when lifting and mobilizing patients. In contrast to non-electrically powered passive exoskeletons with exposed mechanical components, the 'Apogee+' has a closed housing that is not only easy to disinfect, but also offers comprehensive protection against injuries. German Bionic works together with renowned healthcare institutions such as the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the BG Unfallklinikum Murnau.
