The robotics competition 'RoboCup' is entering a new round. Students and pupils can once again register for the German preliminary round - the 'RoboCup German Open'. Those who qualify for the junior final will compete at the 2018 RoboCup World Championships in Canada.

... a major topic in the 'RoboCup@Home League', the league for household robots. Here, the teams present approaches on how robots can gradually improve their orientation in their environment with the help of deep learning methods. Two new standard platform leagues were held for the first time. The 'Social Standard Platform League (SSPL)' uses the robot Pepper from Softbank Robotics, while the 'Domestic Standard Platform League (DSPL)' uses the Human Support Robot (HSR) from Toyota (pictured). This is the first time that commercial robots have been involved in the @Home League.
