Equipped with several microphones, cameras and 3D eyes, the corresponding authentic head movement is designed to give him lively facial expressions, and he can also maintain eye contact and show realistic gestures. Navel listens, answers questions, understands emotions and reacts accordingly. In addition to the basic emotions, Navel can show additional facial expressions and seamlessly switch between them.

Sympathy point through cap

Navel weighs eight kilograms and is 70 centimetres tall; he wears a cap, which should make him particularly likeable. The robot is designed to act as a listener, an active conversation partner and even a joke teller. According to the manufacturer, it can have lively conversations with patients, answer their questions and even remember their names.

Thanks to its artificial intelligence and built-in sensor technology, it continuously adapts to different needs and situations. "We are very excited to see how our patients will react to Navel and communicate with him," say Dr. Anja Berndt and Dr. Mariusz Maciejewski, Chief Physicians of Geriatrics.

The sensor data is processed both on the robot and in the cloud. Navel Robotics has taken comprehensive measures to protect this personal and sensitive data in order to comply with the data protection standards of the GDPR and also to restrict access.
