Mr. Mayer-Rosa, what premiere is Delta celebrating at the Hannover Messe?

We are presenting our first family of cobots. With the D-Bot series, we are presenting the next development stage of collaborative robotics and adding an important building block to our automation portfolio. The D-Bots are available in six model variants. They each have six axes, weigh between 26 and 85 kg and can rotate through 120 to 360°. Depending on the model, payloads of 6 to 30 kg are moved at a speed of up to 200° per second and the range is 800 to 1800 mm. The precision is in the range of ±0.02mm.

Why is there a new product category?

In the field of mechanical engineering and automation technology, collaborative robotics is one of the fastest growing areas. We will tap into this potential with our D-Bot family. We also expect a growing demand for flexible and collaborative robotics solutions in many different industries in the future.

What has Delta's robotics range looked like so far?

The cobot series complements our SCARA robots and classic industrial robots. By adding cobots to the portfolio, we can now offer a more comprehensive range of solutions that meet individual requirements. It is also a response to our customers, who have been increasingly asking for a solution since the pandemic.

Which users is the Cobot aimed at?

With the cobots, we are targeting customers in industries such as automotive, electronics, pharmaceuticals and logistics. In general, we are targeting companies that have difficulties finding staff to load their machines and other tasks, for example. Our cobots are also suitable for applications such as assembly, packaging and material handling. In addition, our solution is designed for environments where close collaboration between humans and robotics is required, as well as in areas where high precision and repeatability are required.

What is special about 'D-Bot'?

Our cobots are designed to meet the specific requirements of our customers while meeting the highest safety standards. Furthermore, we offer a complete factory solution that is not available from other pure cobot providers.
Flexibility is a major advantage of our cobots. The D-Bots support various interfaces such as Ethercat, CAN Bus, IO Link and Modbus as well as the manufacturer-independent Codesys development environment, which we use to maximize the efficiency of the cobots and at the same time ensure maximum variability. Teaching is also simple via drag & drop or via Python, ROS 1 or C++.
The D-Bots provide a wide range of functions such as Pick & Place, Pelletizing, Machine Tending and Welding as 'ready-to-use' apps. In addition, no special programming knowledge is required, because thanks to 'Plug & Play', the movement specifications and the description of the command execution are effortless.

What does Delta's robotics roadmap look like?

A lot will happen in the coming months. Smart factory automation is an important business for Delta and this will require all kinds of robotics. In addition to the new cobot portfolio, we are already working on the next generation of industrial robots and will also soon be presenting something new in the world of mobile robots
