Eaton has developed the PXS24 electronic circuit breaker for better protection of 24 V (DC) circuits. The device covers a rated current range of up to 16 A and, according to the supplier, offers better protection than conventional circuit breakers. It has selective overload protection for control circuits as well as integrated control, switching and signaling functions. For professional system monitoring and visualization, each channel of the circuit breaker has its own control inputs and outputs that can be connected to a PLC. By connecting individual channels to a PLC, sources of faults can be localized more quickly and problems rectified. The channels can also be linked to each other in order to generate summary messages or to make several channels dependent on each other and switch them off in the event of a fault. The device is modularly scalable.
