Ecom, a brand of Pepperl+Fuchs, presents the Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacons Loc-Ex 01 for ATEX/IECEx Zone 1 and Loc 01 for non-hazardous areas, specially developed for industries with extensive factory premises or potentially explosive atmospheres. The BLE beacons connect people, areas, assets and systems. They combine digital and physical data in a business intelligence unit and help to shape the entire value chain in such a way that costs can be reduced and productivity and efficiency increased at the same time. BLE beacons turn assets into intelligent, localizable objects that can provide information such as temperature or fill level and also react to events such as keystrokes, brightness, shocks or changes in position. In addition to spatial information, additional data on local process parameters is transmitted in real time. Neighborhood relationships and alarms can also be defined, for example if hazardous substances collide or are stored next to each other. The Bluetooth 4.1 standard ensures that the beacons are compatible with both current and special tablets and smartphones for hazardous areas, such as the 'Tab-Ex 01' and 'Smart-Ex 01'. In combination with suitable applications, they form an integrated system for the digitalization strategy. The BLE beacons are therefore part of an interlinked, explosion-proof solution portfolio that includes smartphones, tablets, peripheral devices, applications and software.
