'Integrated Industry - Connect & Collaborate' - this is the motto of the world's most important industrial trade fair, Hannover Messe 2018. Computer&AUTOMATION shows an excerpt of the products that can be seen in Hanover in a picture gallery.
With the SmartCore cable, Leuze electronic is launching a product specifically for applications with moving cables, for example in robots or handling axes. The cable also contains a special sacrificial cable that fails at around 80 % of the possible movement cycles. For evaluation purposes, the sacrificial cable is bridged with the supply voltage; in the event of a wire break, it provides early warning that the cable is nearing the end of its service life. Unplanned system downtimes due to cable breakage can thus be effectively prevented and the sensor cable at risk of breakage can be replaced during the next regular maintenance cycle. The "SmartCore" technology thus increases system availability.
