With the MMS 22-IO-Link magnetic switch, Schunk is expanding the evaluation options of its pneumatic universal grippers "PGN-plus-P" and its pneumatic small parts grippers "MPG-plus". The sensor can be placed directly in the C-slot of the gripper modules without interfering contours. It can be used to detect the entire stroke range of the gripper so that parts of different sizes can be detected precisely. Thanks to IO-Link, additional data can be generated in addition to the position query, for example querying the number of cycles, the temperature, the evaluation quality or the sensor identification. Continuous communication between the magnetic switch and the control system is also guaranteed. For this purpose, the sensor, which fully complies with the IO-Link Class A standard, is connected directly to the IO-Link master. The sensor is taught via the IO-Link interface; alternatively, wired connector or non-contact magnetic teaching tools can be used. An LED display signals the respective switching status.
