embedded world Conference 2019

Top-class expertise for the embedded world

embedded world continues to develop excellently. The prospects for the embedded world Conference, whose program is already online, are just as excellent. The motto of this year's embedded world Conference is: Embedded Intelligence.

The conference will therefore focus on one of the key issues facing the industry.

The performance of processors and integrated circuits has grown so much and become so cheap that new technologies such as machine learning and artificial intelligence are being used in more and more applications. This enables completely new systems that independently perceive their environment, draw conclusions and make decisions.

The embedded world conference reflects this trend with the motto "Embedded Intelligence", which echoes the title of one of its predecessor events from the 1990s. While these technologies were more of a dream back then, they are now a reality.

The 2019 program is divided into ten conference clusters:

  1. Internet of Things
  2. Connected Systems
  3. Embedded OS
  4. Safety & Security
  5. Hardware Engineering
  6. Software & Systems Engineering
  7. Embedded Vision
  8. Autonomous & Intelligent Systems
  9. Embedded GUI & HMI
  10. System-on-Chip

The individual clusters are made up of sessions and classes. Sessions last one morning or afternoon and usually consist of half-hour presentations. Classes are limited to smaller groups and have the character of a training course: here, participants can devote themselves intensively to a topic, often even with practical exercises on the computer or on microprocessor boards.

The highlights of the embedded world Conference are always the two keynote speeches on the first and second day of the conference. Two first-class industry experts who approach the topic of embedded intelligence from completely different angles have been secured for this purpose: Jim Tung, MathWorks Fellow, and Jean-Marc Chery, President and CEO of STMicroelectronics since May 2018.

On the first day, February 26, 2019, Jim Tung will talk about "Developing Game-Changing Embedded Intelligence". In particular, he will discuss how algorithmic expertise and domain-specific knowledge must be brought together in order to achieve the greatest possible added value with the systems and products. This overarching approach in conjunction with dynamic market changes is presenting developers with ever greater challenges.

Jean-Marc Chery will devote his keynote speech on the second day of the conference to the topic of "Embedded Intelligence for the Next Wave of Smart Systems - Opportunities and Challenges on the Edge". He will outline the role that embedded systems will continue to play in the field, at the edge. Not all data will be pushed into the backend, into the cloud, but an optimum must be found in the balance between computer, storage and communication resources.

250 contributions from international experts in 42 sessions and 12 classes

Prof. Dr. Axel Sikora, Chair of the embedded world Conference.

"The embedded world Conference has become the largest and most important application-oriented event on embedded systems. This will also be impressively underlined in 2019 by a lecture program that is unique in its breadth and depth with 250 contributions from international experts in 42 sessions and 12 classes," comments Prof. Axel Sikora from Offenburg University of Applied Sciences and Chairman of the embedded world Conference. "In particular, the topics relating to embedded intelligence, possible architectures and solutions and the associated challenges will play a central role this year. But the technical tracks of the 'classic topics' will also be intensively developed," adds Sikora.

The program with the presentation abstracts and information on the speakers is now available online. Interested parties can also register directly online for the conference.
