As part of the cooperation,Moxa supplies hardware such as IIoT gateways and edge computers, which are used to integrate sensors, machines and other components into the IIoT infrastructure. Moxa also supplies the Moxa Industrial Linux operating system. As a database specialist, Robotron provides various software solutions and platforms for collecting and analyzing the data volume. In the field of industrial production, the focus is on the latest edge and cloud technologies as well as artificial intelligence for intelligent process control and optimization.

The collaboration focuses on four use cases:

  • General IIoT platforms in demanding industries and applications for which Moxa provides hardware components: Transportation (especially rail technology), Oil & Gas industry,
  • IIoT solutions for the energy industry - a particular strength of the partnership. The first projects have already been implemented here, using low-cost IIoT hardware and data analysis and visualization to generate insights into the distribution network that would previously only have been possible with significantly more expensive traditional solutions.
  • Energy efficiency and management in industry. This is where Moxa's industrial experience and Robotron's data analytics expertise (based on the robotron*IPEA platform, among others) form an ideal combination.
  • Real-time applications based on Robotron's real-time computer vision platform (RCV). With the hardware of Moxa's correspondingly certified edge computing technology, this platform can also be used in industrial applications, e.g. in sectors such as oil & gas, mining/extraction technology, railroad technology, etc.
