Kick-off for 'Invent a Chip 2019'Innovative microchip ideas wanted

Under the motto "DigiTALENTE", the VDE and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research are launching the annual nationwide student competition 'Invent a Chip'. As of now, young people can once again submit their chip ideas.

... Timo Alexander Schmidt secured third place and prize money of 1000 euros. His chip idea deals with an everyday problem that can affect anyone: The empty toilet roll in other people's toilets. "With the help of three colored LEDs, the fill level is now indicated," he says. This allows the visitor to the cubicle to decide whether there is enough toilet paper and also informs the service staff if there is a shortage of supplies.
