Peak-System is now making the CAN FD standard for faster CAN communication available for computers via a PCI Express slot. The PCAN-PCI Express FD plug-in card has one or two CAN FD channels, depending on the version. In addition to the nominal bit rate of maximum 1 Mbit/s, the data bytes of CAN FD frames can be transmitted at up to 12 Mbit/s. Galvanic isolation of the CAN connections protects the electronics of the plug-in card and the connected computer from voltage interference of up to 500 V. The plug-in card can be operated in an environment with temperatures from -40 to +85 °C. Device drivers are available for Windows versions 7, 8.1 and 10 as well as for Linux. In addition to the 'PCAN-View' monitor software for Windows, which can be used to carry out simple CAN traffic analyses, several programming interfaces for Windows are included in the scope of delivery. With 'PCAN-Basic 4', basic CAN FD communication is made possible in a simple way with self-developed software. Furthermore, libraries of various standardized protocols from the automotive sector are available for programming.
