For Foundation Fieldbus and Profibus PA
commModule PD from Softing is the next generation of the 'Fieldbus Kit FBK-2' communication module for integrating Foundation Fieldbus and Profibus PA functionality into field devices.
The universal communication module supports fast implementation without fieldbus knowledge or programming effort and, according to the supplier, now requires less space than the 'FBK-2'. It offers greater flexibility and performance thanks to the use of a 32-bit microcontroller with more memory (RAM and ROM).
The functionality of the fieldbus controller is implemented in software. This reduces the power consumption of the module by around 25 % compared to the previous solution. In addition, the current module enables automatic assembly (SMD, surface mounted devices). The use of the module as part of the supplier's 'commKit FFeasy' and 'commKit PAeasy' products replaces the otherwise necessary complex development project with a fast implementation process.
By integrating the communication module, the bus physics is already prepared for the connection of Foundation Fieldbus H1 and Profibus PA. A library of available function and transducer blocks is available for integration.
