The smartwatch 'Pebble', which is financed by Internet users, is supposed to forward notifications from the cell phone to the wrist via Bluetooth. But what hardware is needed for this? Unscrewing the computer watch reveals the energy-efficient e-paper display. It can only display the two colors black and white and has a resolution of 144 x 168 pixels. It is a Sharp Memory LCD which, according to the manufacturer, requires less than 15 µW for a static image. While it is easy to read in ambient light, it is backlit in the dark by 3 LEDs located on the red ribbon cable (left).
