Order intake in the Europe, CIS, Africa, Near and Middle East (Europe/GANO) region rose sharply and included the metro order and two major orders for wind farms. A major order for onshore wind farms drove growth in the Americas region. Order intake in Asia, Australia included double-digit percentage growth in China. Growth in the emerging markets of 21% to EUR 8.486 billion exceeded the Group's growth rate. Sales declined in the Americas and Europe/ GANO in the first quarter, while double-digit percentage growth in China helped to keep sales in Asia, Australia at the previous year's level. The emerging markets reported a decline of 4% compared to the same period of the previous year.
