The
absolute Hall angle encoder iC-MHM is a magnetically scanning single-chip encoder with a resolution of 14 bits over 360° (0.02° angular resolution). When using the multiturn interface for the low-power encoder module 'iC-PV', multiturn operation with a resolution of up to 46 bits is achieved. The absolute position can be read out via the open BiSS/SSI standard interface or via SPI. Integrated RS-422/LVDS transceivers support clock rates of up to 10 MHz in BiSS/SSI communication. In addition to the serial BiSS/SSI interface, the encoder provides differential analog sine/cosine signals with 1 Vpp signal deviation at 100 Ω. Configurable I/O pins provide either incremental signals (ABZ), test signals for calibrating the module or special functions for digital input/output. The singleturn resolution can be configured from 9 to 14 bits, the multiturn setting covers the range between 4 and 32 bits. With a singleturn resolution of 12 bits, speeds of up to 80,000 rpm can be reliably processed. The integrated life counter, which is incremented by 1 with every data request, can be used in safety applications.
