According to the digital association Bitkom, 51% of all companies in Germany have fallen victim to digital industrial espionage, sabotage or data theft. At 61%, medium-sized companies (100 to 499 employees) are the most likely to suffer cyber attacks. According to Bitkom, SMEs are a "particularly lucrative target" for cyber criminals. The reason: they offer innovative products and have a strong international position in their market segment.
