With the Human Vision Component (HVC) module from Omron Electronics, embedded systems can be equipped with face and gesture recognition functions. Ten essential image capture functions and a camera are combined in a 60 x 40 mm module. Product developers can implement functions such as face recognition, gender recognition, age estimation and assessment of mood, facial expression, gaze intensity and blinking based on the capture of a person's face, hand or body. The module is based on Omron's Okao image processing software, which is embedded in the hardware platform. The module contains a camera, a processor and a UART interface for control and data readout. Key features: according to the manufacturer, the system can capture, recognize and recognize a face over a distance of 1.3 m in 1.1 seconds. It can also detect a human body up to 2.8 m away and a hand up to 1.5 m away. The detection angle of the module is 49° horizontally and 37° vertically. Image analysis functions enable interaction between man and machine.
