For personnel consultant Dietrich Graf von Reischach, CEO of Interconsult, a race to catch up for early to mid-2021 was already "clearly on the cards" at the end of last year.

Many of his clients have used the coronavirus phase to strategically realign themselves both internally and externally by acquiring or selling companies. "New vacancies have been created and released as a result."

Ideally and as always, qualified managers who cannot be found on the open job market are being sought to fill these vacancies. As coronavirus has shown how unstable the economic system can be when adapting to changing environmental conditions, "employees with a high level of disruptive skills" are now being sought for these vacancies.

In 2020, there were some planned vacancies that had become obsolete due to the pandemic and the associated strategic realignment of its customers or were put on hold in crisis mode "to create space to reassess the situation", explains von Reischach.

When the economy picks up, the bottlenecks will be there again and "will occur everywhere", the experienced personnel consultant is certain. The focus will then be on engineers and FAEs for electrical engineering and software in the semiconductor, automotive, IT and medical electronics sectors.

"However, we will also be looking for business development managers and, as always, good sales people. Professional support will be all the more important this year."
