Shear wave elastography is an ultrasound procedure that examines the elasticity of tissue. It helps to detect tumors earlier, particularly in the breast, prostate, liver and thyroid gland. Siemens Healthcare was the first company to launch this new examination method on the market in 2008. The research work of Dr. Liexiang Fan from Siemens Healthcare in Issaquah, Washington (USA) made a significant contribution to this. He has been continuously developing this technology ever since. The latest applications make it possible to display the examined tissue as a colored image.
