Liquid-cooled Active Interface Modules from Siemens
© Siemens
As part of the Sinamics S120 low-voltage inverters, Siemens is offering liquid-cooled Active Interface Modules (AIM) for the first time. They cover the 500 to 690 V voltage range and have an output of 1,700 kW. The modules dissipate almost all of their heat to the coolant and not to the environment. This greatly reduces the need for air conditioning and cuts the installation, maintenance and operating costs that would otherwise be required. As no fan is required, the modules' own consumption is also lower. Thanks to their compact design, liquid-cooled inverters are suitable for use in confined spaces, such as in marine propulsion systems, as well as in harsh environments - for example in mining or in the oil and gas industry.
