At embedded world, Rutronik is presenting the smallest stand-alone computer with integrated Bluetooth Low Energy: it is called RFduino, is from RFdigital and is based on the Nordic Semiconductor nRF51822. RFduino is the first Arduino-compatible board that can be controlled with Bluetooth v4.0-compatible smartphones or tablets. The board contains the 2.4GHz module RFD22301. In addition to the 2.4GHz transceiver, which can implement Bluetooth Low Energy, Gazell, ShockBurst and other radio protocols, the RFduino also contains a 32-bit Cortex ARM M0 microcontroller, 256kB Flash and various peripherals for input and output. Rutronik offers exclusively for business customers in Europe a range of RFduino development kits in different price categories. An Arduino variant can be flashed as the operating system and radio stack or the software from Nordic Semiconductor can be used. Thanks to a large range of different shields, a prototype can be assembled in a short time, which can be converted for large-volume series production with little effort.
