Keeping the frequency of the power grid stable and thus avoiding blackouts is one of the major technical challenges when electricity is also fed in from solar and wind power plants. Robert Nelson from Siemens Wind Power has developed programs that help to control the frequency in power grids with wind turbines when wind conditions suddenly change.
