At the end of March, Siemens CEO Peter Löscher announces the reorganization of his company with the words: "We are focusing Siemens on technology leadership in a broad spectrum of energy efficiency solutions in cities and for industrial sectors. We want to exceed the 100 billion euro business volume threshold in the next few years." As part of the restructuring of the industrial business, the lighting technology division Osram is to be floated on the stock exchange. The Mobility and Building Technologies divisions, which were also previously part of the Industry sector, and the Power Distribution division, which was previously part of the Energy sector, will be merged into the new Infrastructure & Cities sector. The Industry Solutions division, on the other hand, with around 30,000 employees, will be dissolved and assigned to the Industry Automation and Drive Technologies divisions and the newly established Customer Services division.
