With the USB 3.1 Type C, W+P Products has a connector in its portfolio that guarantees a data transfer rate of 10 Gbit/s according to the "USB 3.1 Super Speed Plus" standard - twice as fast as the previous USB 3.0 standard. The 832/8320 connector supports both the USB Power Delivery and USB Audio/Video standards. This means that the same connector system can be used to transmit power of up to 100 W and to transmit video data in the Ultra HD standard. As the connector was developed with the aim of also being usable for future developments of the USB standard, it is equipped with 24 contacts, twelve of which are currently used on each side. In the medium term, the connector is intended to replace the current USB connector types mini-USB, micro-USB, type A and B. With dimensions of 9 mm x 3.4 mm, it is significantly smaller than type A and only slightly larger than previous micro USB types. The design of the plug was chosen symmetrically so that the USB connector can be plugged in in any direction. Adapters ensure downward compatibility.
