The Profinet IO encoders, which are also new, support 'Fast Start Up' (FSU). This makes it possible to start up a system in well under a second. Without FSU, the system start-up for Profinet IO with all field devices involved in the communication takes around ten seconds. The Media Redundancy Protocol is also implemented in these encoders. Essentially, the advantage of MRP is that the functionality of the components, which are wired in a ring structure, is maintained in the event of a failure or if the cables are interrupted at one point.
