First place, and therefore 50,000 euros, went to the developers of the 'Fovea' app, an application for photo-optical timber calculation. The app uses several individual photos to create a panoramic image of a collection point for long timber, a so-called timber pile. The wood can be measured immediately from this composite image and the results are displayed on the smartphone. While the majority of timber is currently still measured by hand, 'Fovea' offers a simple, fast and valid measurement method.
