Finally, as far as drive technology is concerned, ABB is presenting a new platform for rib-cooled high-voltage motors in Hanover. The motors not only offer higher performance with the same size, but also more power per kilogram. According to ABB, the internal and external cooling has been significantly improved. The cooling surface has been significantly increased and the shape, size and arrangement of the cooling fins optimized. Even all possible attachment devices were taken into account when optimizing the design. The cooling air can therefore always flow freely over the motor, regardless of which devices are attached. The entire design of the motor is flexible and offers completely new freedom during installation. For example, the auxiliary terminal box can be mounted on the A or B side or on the left or right as required. This means that the motor can be installed in numerous locations and used in a wide variety of applications. Last but not least, the design offers good access to all maintenance points and allows grease to be changed quickly. The winding and bearing can also be inspected with an endoscope without removing the end shields.
