Based on the analyses, STM assumes that this figure will even rise to over 50% by 2020. Domestic providers of automation solutions sometimes have considerable deficits in terms of precision, reliability and speed. However, they are generally much cheaper, more flexible, closer to the customer and often have shorter delivery times. Another advantage of domestic suppliers: A significant proportion of the expected growth will be driven by smaller and medium-sized companies. According to STM's expectations, the relatively largest gains for domestic manufacturers will be in 3D printers, drives, robots and MES systems. The Lörrach-based management consultancy expects the nominally largest gains in sensors, Scada systems, drives and robots.
