Biometric authentication is on the rise:
This year, according to Fortinet, Apple took a "bold step" when it announced that the new iPhone 5s included fingerprint authentication. Even this type of authentication is not immune to attacks: the device was hacked just a few days after shipping. However, this caused users to become more aware of the importance of two-factor authentication (2FA). 2FA stands for flawless proof of a user's identity using two different components. According to Fortinet, the simple password is becoming increasingly outdated. The security experts predict that more cell phone and smartphone providers will integrate a second authentication factor into their devices in the coming year. There will also be additional forms of authentication - for example via an electrocardiogram, facial recognition, tattoos or pills.
