Prof. Jürgen Jasperneite, Director of both research institutes, expects the chip to be in great demand - especially in the field of intelligent technical systems, which are used in automotive production, energy technology (wind turbines), mechanical engineering and traffic engineering, for example. "The Tiger will make an important contribution to further penetrating the world of automation with information technologies. Applications with the highest performance requirements can now be realized," says Jasperneite.

The former head of Phoenix Contact's Automation division, Volker Bibelhausen, had already presented the chip in the run-up to the Hannover Messe 2010.
