Industry Automation's earnings rose to EUR 338 million in the first quarter due to a more favorable business mix.
Drive Technologies' first-quarter earnings were EUR 133 million, down sharply year-on-year, with declines in all businesses. Industry Automation's first-quarter sales were slightly higher year-on-year, with growth in Asia, Australia and Europe/GANO partially offset by a decline in the Americas. Order intake increased by 7% year-on-year, driven by growth in Asia, Australia and the Americas. The Drive Technologies Division's sales revenue was slightly lower, mainly due to a decline in the Americas, which was partly attributable to unfavorable currency translation effects. The division's order intake increased moderately, primarily due to major internal orders. On an organic basis, sales revenue rose by 1% and order intake by 6% in the first quarter compared to the previous year.
