In May 1941, Konrad Zuse completed the first freely programmable computer. A good 70 years later, Horst Zuse put a replica into operation in honor of his father's 100th birthday. Instead of the "discontinued" telephone relays, the 5-Hertz machine uses 2500 modern industrial relays.
