Automatica 2012 Lightweight arm LBR Kuka
© Computer & Automation
Kuka's lightweight robot LBR was also specifically designed to share the workspace in the future either with humans or - as here in an assembly cell for transmission components - with its "peers". The lightweight arm, originally developed by DLR and commercialized by Kuka, comes amazingly close to the motion sequences of the human arm. The operator can guide the robot by hand to different positions in the workspace and control and teach it via a very simple user interface. According to Kuka, the LBR will be available as standard at the end of the year.
