In addition to automotive applications, Fanuc has set its sights on loading and unloading machine tools as potential applications for its first collaborative robot. But also packaging stations, where the robot can take over handling and human workers can carry out testing, inspection or shipping tasks. Olaf Kramm, Managing Director for Germany, is very optimistic about the market opportunities for the new type of robot: "I believe that the installation of 2,000 units in Germany by 2020 is a realistic goal."
