With the mbNET.rokey industrial router from MB Connect Line, a multi-level key switch increases security. The device gives the system operator full control over access to their systems directly at the router. When the switch is in the OFF position, the connection to the outside world is completely disconnected. As soon as the system operator switches to the ONL position, the router establishes a VPN connection to the mbConnect24 server and is displayed as 'Connected' in the portal. In this mode, remote access to the router's data and services is possible - but neither access to the components nor to the network behind the router. Routing and thus transparent access for remote maintenance of the system is only possible with the switch set to REM. The scalable access protection allows the user to use the router's services continuously, for example for data acquisition, while only enabling remote maintenance when actually required. A security chip (Secure Element), which serves as a secure safe for passwords, certificates and keys, and a hard-coded bootloader (Secure Boot), which only accepts signed firmware updates that match the stored security certificate (Secure Firmware), ensure the system security of the router itself.
